The SFP carries proprietary serial video waveform instead of Ethernet packets. Why Single Fiber Supports Full\u2011Duplex HDMI: BiDi\u2011SFP &amp; WDM Technology<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Physically, light propagates in only one direction inside an optical fiber. A common technical confusion arises: native HDMI2.0 TMDS reaches 18\u202fGbps, but SDVoE runs on 10\u202fGbps Ethernet links.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Explanation:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>HDMI 18\u202fGbps physical bandwidth includes active pixel payload <strong>plus horizontal \/ vertical blanking periods and 8b\/10b encoding overhead<\/strong>. The actual active pixel payload for 4K@60 8\u2011bit 4:4:4 is only ~11.94\u202fGbps.<\/li>\n<li>SDVoE hardware strips blanking intervals; receiver regenerates synchronization timing locally.
